The case for CAD before wax
Hand-drawn sketches are romantic. CAD is what gets the ring right. What changes when you can see your ring from every angle before it’s made.
CAD is where romance becomes usable geometry. It is how the ring gets right before it is made — proportion, prong placement, the way a band meets a setting. Wax comes after, to test in the hand what the screen has already settled.
Skipping the digital step to save time almost always costs more of it later, because every correction in metal is slower and less forgiving than a correction in the model.
